The position of Justice and Peace Commission at the Slovenian Bishops' Conference on Violent Protests

6.11.2020 Slovenija Izjava, Komisija Pravičnost in mir

The Justice and Peace Commission at the Slovenian Bishops' Conference strongly condemns the violent protests and riots that occurred on Thursday, November 5, 2020, in Ljubljana, as well as any direct and indirect incitement to such acts. While most citizens respect the measures and thus protect the health of themselves and others, such protests are extremely ruthless and offensive to everyone, especially to medical staff and victims of the epidemic. The Commission is committed to freedom of expression with zero violence and to following instructions to limit the epidemic in the given circumstances. We express our acknowledgment and gratitude to the state authorities for their effective intervention and express our support in ensuring law and order, security and peace in the country.

In Ljubljana, November 6, 2020

Msgr. Anton Stress Ph.D.

President of the Justice and Peace Commission at SBC
