On the feast of St. Joseph, March 19, 2021, we entered the Year of the Family Amoris Laetitia, the goal of which is the World Meeting of Families in Rome in June 2022. This year, the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life prepares catecheses and accompanying videos for families. The Office for the Family at the Slovenian Bishops' Conference provides their ongoing translation. Catecheses are the fruit of the testimonies of families and the Holy Father. They are intended for reflection in a family or a community of families. Therefore, catecheses are an excellent tool for discussion in marriage groups, family catechesis and similar meetings.
Why is it worth meeting at these catecheses? With their help, families bond, discover the mystery of God's work, and become open to preaching the 'Gospel of the family'. With catechesis, every community becomes more family-oriented and thus already testifies to God, who lives as a family of three. Catecheses are also a further preparation for the World Meeting of Families, which will occur from June 22 to 26, 2022, in Rome.
Here are the third catechesis and video entitled The Vocation of the Family. In them, Pope Francis, together with married couples, considers the following issues:
How can a family that is itself imperfect still become a light in the darkness of the world?
What is the path of holiness for married couples?
Why can the Church be called the "family of families"?
The meaning of our life together.
These issues are more broadly addressed by the Apostolic Exhortation on the Joy of Love (Amoris Laetitia), so catechesis invites us to read this exhortation, the Articles no. 58-88.
