On Monday, October 11, 2021, a meeting of secretariats at the level of Slovenia was held in the diocesan home of Vrbje near Žalec in preparation for the synodal path.
The contact person (s) of individual dioceses gathered at the introductory meeting together with the Bishop of Celje, Maksimiljan Matjaž, responsible for the Synod at the Slovenian Bishops' Conference. The purpose of the meeting was to get acquainted with the individual steps of the synodal process, which covers the period from 2021 to 2023, when it will conclude with the 16th regular session of the Synod of Bishops in Rome. The first part of the synodal process will take place at the level of local Churches. Since the theme of the Synod is precisely the willingness to listen to one another, to seek challenges and to cooperate with the communion, this is supposed to be a valuable contribution to the renewal of the Church in concrete life. Participants outlined ways of working across dioceses that will be multifaceted and based on communion dynamics.
