The Catholic Church in Slovenia Has Paid a Fine for Organizing a Holy Mass in Brezje

23.12.2020 Slovenija COVID19, SŠK

The Slovenian National Shrine Mary Help of Christians in Brezje organized a solemn Holy Mass with the believers' presence on the feast of the Assumption of Mary, August 15, 2020. Due to exceeding the permitted number of believers, limited to 500 people at that period (with the permission of the National Institute of Public Health), the Health Inspectorate initiated an inspection. On December 21, 2020, the inspectorate established the said violation and issued a payment order for EUR 4,000.00 for the legal entity and EUR 400.00 for the legal representative. The Catholic Church respects the decision of the Health Inspectorate and has paid the fine. To avoid future fines, the Slovenian Bishops' Conference calls on all priests and believers to strictly follow the competent state and church institutions' instructions.
