On Friday, January 22, 2021, an unknown perpetrator threw a balloon with paint on the fresco of the Annunciation on the south facade of the Ljubljana Cathedral. The fresco made by Julius Quaglio in the first half of the 18th century was restored by Janez Wolf in 1872. The SBC believes the event to be an expression of Christianophobia and vandalism and decisively rejects all forms of intolerance and desecration of churches calling on the corresponding state institutions to investigate the circumstances and take appropriate action.
