Today, November 23, 2020, the Slovenian bishops gathered at the 25th session of the SBC Permanent Council, which took place online.
They reaffirmed the encouragement to believers for the season of Advent, in which they called on believers to personal and family prayer and care for the poor. They also invited them to avoid visiting each other during this year's Advent season due to epidemiological conditions. The bishops wrote that in their prayers they especially remember everyone suffering from coronavirus and the deceased together with relatives.
At the session, the bishops also discussed pastoral care for Slovenes abroad. They appointed the priest Janez Kobal as the new general spiritual assistant of the Slovenian Catholic Girl Guides and Boy Scouts Association. The bishops studied the latest proposal for the Act Determining the Intervention Measures to mitigate and Remedy the Consequences of the COVID-19 epidemic (PKP6). At today's session, the bishops also prayed for the late Bishop Msgr. PhD. Jožef Smej who will be buried in the immediate family circle tomorrow.
