The first task of a bishop is to listen to his priests, to the people of God, and to spend much time before God. His preaching must derive from listening to God and to men. The most urgent message today is the transmission of faith to new generations. Another task of a bishop is to consecrate deacons and priests. Every consecration must be an act of deep contemplation and an expression of humble gratitude.
