The Ljubljana Metropolitan Province comprises the Dioceses of Koper and Novo mesto, and the Archdiocese of Ljubljana.
The Archdiocese of Ljubljana
The Archdiocese of Ljubljana was founded in 1461. Ljubljana was briefly the seat of a metropolitan archdiocese in the 19th century, from 1788 to 1807. The Diocese of Ljubljana was elevated again to an Archdiocese in 1961 by Pope John XXIII. It became a Metropolitan Archdiocese in 1968 under Pope Paul VI.
