Colleague journalists,
In his message for this year's World Social Communications Day, Pope Francis invites us to "come and see".
Getting up from your armchair, walking away from the computer, looking a person in the eye, finding the truth and then reporting honestly – this is often a grind, bordering heroism. Media consumers ignore it very easily. As we wake up to a new day, it seems self-evident to get daily fresh news on the tray of our choices.
Taking something for granted is a weakness of our culture; gratitude is a purpose giving new impetus.
On behalf of the Slovenian bishops, I thank you that we can also meet you in the news. Thank you for your trust and your gift.
I wish you a beautiful and wholesome holiday.
Dr Peter Štumpf SDB,
Bishop of Murska Sobota and President of the Media Coordination at SBC
