At the 121st regular session of the Slovenian Bishops' Conference (SBC), which took place on March 8, 2021, the Slovenian dioceses adopted a resolution, according to which on Friday, March 26, 2021, the Church in Slovenia will celebrate a day of prayer for victims of sexual abuse.

On this day, at all Holy Masses, the faithful will say a prayer prepared by the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors:

Heavenly Father,

who you love and care for all your children, especially the youngest and most vulnerable,

We surrender to you the lives of many children and vulnerable adults who have been sexually abused and whose trust and innocence have been destroyed.

Help us hear their cries of their pain and take responsibility for so many broken lives.

We pray that they find understanding and support in their communities and families,

that by Your grace, their wounds may be healed and that they may find peace again.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who was equal to us in all but sin and is with you in the communion of the Holy Spirit, who lives and reigns forever.

Amen.

Where possible, believers should light candles at a Holy Mass in solidarity with the victims of sexual abuse and organize adoration before the Blessed Sacrament.

The work of the Catholic Church in Slovenia in protecting children, adolescents, and vulnerable adults is presented on the website: https://katoliska-cerkev.si/zascita-otrok-v-cerkvi-na-slovenskem.
